There are tremendous online resources for researching and discovering family history. For example, www.FamilySearch.org--the largest genealogy organization in the world--is a free site on which you can easily register, sign in, and find the lines we have already started on.

If you are not sure where to start with genealogical research or need a bit of help, you may:

  • Access The Family History Guide (a registered charity). This high-quality free training offers help on "the big four" (FamilySearch, Ancestry, MyHeritage and FindmyPast). To see a three-minute tour of what it offers, click on this video

  • Contact Donna Robertson at FamilyHistorySnippets@gmail.com. She worked for FamilySearch's Worldwide Support team for two years and is willing to help you navigate the site at no charge. (You will still need to do your own research--she will just help you understand the tools with which to do it.)

Sound family history is based on sound genealogy, for family history without sources is just family mythology.
